Chippewa County, WI Testimonial
7/8/2010
In West Central Wisconsin, the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department, along with its
close partner, the Emergency Management Department, have been customers of BBSI
since early 2006. The PSAP here started out with R3 Dispatch 911 mapping software for
wireline and wireless (Phase II) 9‐1‐1 calls and were very impressed with the ease of use.
Our 10 dispatchers readily picked up on how to use the many map features and location
tools. From a GIS and data accuracy standpoint, any data updates are easy to upload
with the R3 software.
Per Russell Bauer, 911 Database/GIS Manager for Chippewa County, “If I ever have any
GIS data or software management questions or concerns, BBSI is a phone call or email
away. More often than not, I will have a response and typically and answer to any
problem I am working on within the same business day. BBSI will go out of their way to
make their system perform as advertised and polish the GIS data as needed.”
PSAP Director, LT Tim Blizek simply states the BBSI mapping’s importance to his PSAP,
“My dispatchers have been extremely pleased with the Insight mapping software and
typically use it on every emergency call they receive…it’s that good and easy to use!”
In early 2009, both departments upgraded to the new BBSI Insight 911 mapping
software and partner CityWatch Emergency Notification System. The combination of
this new upgrade and the notification system allows Chippewa County dispatchers to
initiate an automated call to 8 telephone numbers simultaneously with a message that
either could be from their voice or a typed message that would be converted to speech.
This can all be done with a few mouse clicks right at their workstations using the BBSI
Insight software.
“I was extremely pleased with the overall performance of the system,” said Dennis
Brown, Emergency Management Director for Chippewa County. “We are able to easily
and flawlessly initiate reverse 911 notifications via the BBSI Insight mapping. This is
mission critical during emergency events. It is great to have a product work exactly as it
was advertised. It is very easy for the dispatcher to initiate a notification,” Dennis
mentioned.
Furthermore, Bauer says, “Feel free to contact Chippewa County to take a look at our
mapping and notification system. Thanks in part to BBSI, we do believe we are the envy
of 911 centers in West Central Wisconsin.”
